Australian seasons don't mess around. Summer is fierce. Winter is (comparatively) brief. And the transitions happen faster than you can pack away the last season's gear.
Here's what to have on rotation, season by season.
Summer (December to February)
Sun hats with wide brims and UPF protection. Baby sunglasses with UV400 lenses. Lightweight headbands in breathable nylon. Short-sleeve smocks for outdoor play and messy eating. Soft-sole sandals for hot pavement protection. This is your biggest accessories season.
Autumn (March to May)
Transition into warmer tones — mustard, tawny, sienna headbands and turbans. Knit headbands start making sense as mornings cool. Long-sleeve smocks for arts and crafts. A cotton comforter in autumn hues makes a gorgeous seasonal nursery update.
Winter (June to August)
Knit and textured headbands for warmth and style. Turbans that double as ear warmers. Long-sleeve waterproof smocks for muddy puddle play. Comforters for every nap, every night, every car ride.
Spring (September to November)
The sun returns and so does the need for hats and sunnies. Blush, flamingo, and pastel headbands feel right. Flower headbands for spring family photos. Start reintroducing the sandals and short sleeves.
