About Purple Baby Headbands & Bows

Underrated and slightly dramatic

Purple baby headbands and bows in lilac, lavender, wisteria, mauve and orchid, across the same cable knit, waffle, lace and nylon styles as the rest of the range. Purple is the shade people forget to consider and then buy three of, usually after spotting one in a photograph and realising it does something the others do not.

The soft end, lilac and lavender, behaves like a pastel and suits the same occasions blush does. Mauve and wisteria sit dustier and more grown up, which is why they turn up in milestone shoots and at weddings. Orchid is the loudest of the group and the one to reach for when an outfit needs a single point of interest.

Pink is the obvious neighbour and the two blend better than they have any right to. Blue covers the cooler side, and for more structure the floral headbands carry lilac and lavender through into petals. Multipacks are the cheapest way to try several at once. Australian owned, shipped from Melbourne.

Questions, answered

What is the difference between lilac, lavender and wisteria?
Lilac is the palest and pinkest of the three, lavender sits slightly cooler and greyer, and wisteria is deeper again with more blue in it. Side by side the difference is obvious, in isolation much less so. If you want one that photographs reliably on a newborn, lavender is the safe middle choice.
Does purple suit every skin tone?
The soft end does, comfortably. The deeper shades, wisteria and orchid, look best with a little contrast somewhere else in the outfit, otherwise they can flatten a very pale complexion under indoor lighting. Outdoors and in natural light none of this matters nearly as much as the internet would have you believe.
Is purple a reasonable gift choice?
Yes, and a more interesting one than the default. Lilac and lavender are received the way blush is, so they suit baby showers and newborn gifts without needing any explanation. If the nursery is already neutral or sage, a lavender bow is the piece that will actually get noticed and used.
