Knit one, bow one

Bowie is our cable knit baby bow headband, and it comes in two moods. The single bow is neat and tidy, the everyday pick for a newborn or a baby who already has firm opinions about accessories. The double bow is the chunkier of the two, double knotted so the bow sits big and full, which is exactly what you want when the camera comes out.

Every Bowie sits on a gentle no-mark stretch band that moves with your baby's head instead of gripping it, so one headband carries you from the newborn weeks well into the toddler years. The knit holds the bow in shape through feeds, play and the occasional enthusiastic grab, and the colours run from soft oat, ivory and blush all the way to cherry, cruise blue and pine green.

Can't pick just one? The 3 piece Bowie sets and the rest of our headband multipacks do the choosing for you. Shopping by shade instead? Wander through the neutrals or the pinks, and for the very newest heads, see our tiny bows. Australian owned, posted from Melbourne.

Single bow or double bow? Single bow is the smaller, neater knot, and it suits newborns, everyday outings and babies who prefer a quieter look. Double bow is the same cable knit, double knotted so the bow sits bigger and fuller. It is still one bow, just a more dramatic one, and it is the usual pick for photos, parties and anyone who believes more is more.

Will a Bowie fit a newborn? Yes. The band is a gentle no-mark stretch that sits comfortably on a newborn head and keeps giving as they grow, so a single headband can see you well into the toddler years. Check the fit every few weeks as your baby grows, and retire it if it ever starts to look snug.

Can my baby sleep in it? No. Headbands are for awake, supervised wear only, so take it off before every nap and every bedtime, and keep it out of the cot. Pop it back on when they wake up, ideally once you have worked out where the last one ended up.
