Travelling with a baby is like a military operation with worse logistics and zero sleep. But the right accessories make it significantly less chaotic.
The Nappy Bag Essentials
A feeding smock (because meals happen everywhere and spillable surfaces don't care about your travel outfit). A cotton comforter (the single most important item for sleeping in unfamiliar places). Two headbands (one for arrival, one for backup). A sun hat and sunnies (airport to destination, sun happens).
For the Plane
The comforter. We cannot overstate this. Familiar scent in an unfamiliar pressurised metal tube is the difference between a settled baby and a screaming one. Also pack a headband — you want to look put together in the arrival photos even if you haven't slept in thirty-six hours.
For the Hotel
Pack a spare waterproof smock for highchair situations in restaurants. Hotel highchairs are universally sticky. Your smock provides a hygienic barrier between baby and whatever the last occupant left behind.
For the Beach Holiday
Sandals for hot sand. Sun hat for every outdoor moment. Sunglasses for UV protection. A long-sleeve smock for the beachside fish and chips that will absolutely end up everywhere.
The Photo Opportunity
You'll take five hundred photos. Pack at least one special headband or accessory specifically for the 'holiday photos.' A flower headband at a tropical resort? Perfection.
